Natural abilities are like natural plants, that need pruning by study, and studies themselves do give forth directions too much at large, except they be bounded in by experience.

A strong emphasis on practical, hands-on learning is a cornerstone of the Management Programmes at DMS, IIT Delhi.

This focus led to the inception of the Industry Interaction Committee, as an interface between the DMSites and the Industry , so that the practical implementation of the theoretical knowledge imparted in the classroom can be better understood. The fact that it is funded and managed solely by the students of Department of Management Studies showcases the robustness and flexibility of the IIT system .

The activities of the Committee include arranging guest lectures, seminars, round table conferences and symposiums by eminent personalities from various sectors such as Information technology, FMCG goods, insurance , banking, manufacturing etc to realize the objectives stated above. Factory visits are often made to understand the functioning of Assembly Line , Quality Control and Assurance, and other aspects of the Manufacturing Sector. The Industry Interaction Committee, in coordination with the Placement Committee, identifies the career opportunities for the students in various fields such as Marketing, Finance, IT etc.

Last year two high level symposiums were arranged - Building India Inc. 2003 and Brand Management Seminar. In addition to the above activities, a fortnightly symposium 'The Rostrum' is organized on all areas of Management, to bridge the gap between theories learnt and their practical applications in the business world today.
